How often will we meet?
I meet with the majority of my clients on a weekly basis. I ask that new clients commit to meeting weekly, for at-least the first 6 weeks. This will allow us to start off on a strong foot, so you can start seeing progress right away. I may recommend that we increase or decrease the frequency of sessions to best meet your needs. How long will I need to be in therapy? Many of my clients find that they’ve met their goals in 3-6 months and no longer need therapy. I also have clients who choose to remain in therapy for much longer; they have seen improvements and still really enjoy having ongoing support and a place to process their thoughts and feelings each week. |
How to get started.Give us a call and we will have a brief discussion over the phone.
We will ask you a few questions and get you scheduled for a first therapy session. We will send out forms to you to fill out before your first appointment and a link to telehealth appointments (if applicable) If we both decide we're a good fit after our intro call, we'll schedule our first therapy appointment. I'll send you a couple of quick forms to complete before our first session. I'll also send you a link for our video calls that you can use every week. Here’s what you can expect:
During therapy you'll have an opportunity to vent, gain perspective and new insights, learn to challenge your thoughts, receive feedback, and develop and practice new coping skills. Sometimes therapy can be tough work, and sometimes it is fun and full of laughter. Either way, I am here to support you and will help you achieve the change and growth you are looking for. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my Insurance?
Yes, we accept many insurances here at Healing Hearts Therapy. You can always call your insurance company and ask them for specifics as to what they cover.
How do I get started?
Calling our office or sending an email will be the best way for you to get started. We offer a sliding scale, out of pocket billing, and billing insurances as forms of payment. Paying out-of-pocket is a great option for people who want maximum privacy, confidentiality, and flexibility, however we understand that this is not an option for everyone. Like most specialty providers, we do participate in many insurance plans. Below are a list of questions that may be helpful to read through, before placing your inquiry.
What if you do not take my insurance, can I use out-of-network benefits?
In some cases you may be eligible to use out-of-network insurance benefits. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at time of appointment. If appropriate, I will provide a super bill each month that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
If you’re hoping to find an in-network provider, www.psychologytoday.com is a great resource.
How do I find out if I have out-of-network benefits?
Your out-of-network benefits are usually listed in the Summary of Benefits information on your insurance company’s website. It’s always a good idea to call the number on the back of your health insurance card listed under Member Services.
If appropriate, I will provide you with monthly invoices called a “super bill” that will include all of the necessary information for your claims to be processed.
What if I can’t afford your rate? Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes, I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots in my schedule. If you do not think you can afford my full fee, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
If I’m unable to offer you a sliding scale spot, I’d be happy to offer referrals to trusted clinicians in the area.

OUR TOOL BOX
Our Training
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy In this office we use Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a structured type of therapy that helps increase awareness of one’s negative thoughts, feelings and actions.
CBT, is scientific in nature and is a supportive type of therapy that provides individuals with the tools for effectiveness. We use psychoeducation with our clients, and teach you coping skills to improve your mental health and increase treatment effectiveness. |
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a therapy that helps your brain process thoughts and feelings like it did before the trauma.
You don’t forget what happened, but you don’t relive it over and over. You still have feelings about it, but they’re not as intense At first glance, EMDR appears to approach psychological issues in an unusual way. It does not rely on talk therapy or medications. Instead, EMDR uses a patient's own rapid, rhythmic eye movements. These eye movements dampen the power of emotionally charged memories of past traumatic events. |
CPT
Cognitive Process Therapy We also use Cognitive processing Therapy (CPT) for those that have experienced a trauma and continue to have strong feelings surrounding the grief.
There are other therapy modalities that we utilize and many of our approaches are a blend of many. We are able to tailor our therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. |
